Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Unlocked Tanjiro Kamado’s new trick to use Water Breathing with the latest episode of the series! The second season has reached the climactic final fight of the entertainment district arc, as Tanjiro is doing his best to keep up with the speed and power demonstrated by both Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, and Gyutaro’s Upper Six duo. and Daki, Tanjiro has been struggling to do what he can with the moves he has available. But as he continues to fight, he reaches a new level of inspiration with the use of his aquatic breathing techniques.
While the previous episodes have yet to fully reveal all of the moves Tanjiro has at his disposal thanks to his water breathing training, what Tanjiro found out in the fight against Daki was that he was actually holding back as his own fighting style. favorite. It doesn’t seem to match the flow of techniques. He was being very aggressive, but as he learns to block one of Gyutaro’s most powerful techniques, Tanjiro must use water breathing in a more defensive manner.
Before Tanjiro went so far as to see that water breathing (and thus Urokodaki’s teachings) were not compatible with his body, and began to splinter his sword as a result. But when he struggles to block Gyutaro’s poisonous blood slashes in Episode 8 of the Entertainment District Arc, Tanjiro has a flash of inspiration to return to his teachings. Instead, he realizes that instead of meeting these attacks directly, he should use them to dodge them and deflect them in a different direction, since when it comes to power against power, the weaker side is always overwhelmed.
So instead of misjudging the flow of power, Water Breathing is a more defensive style that channels that other attack in a new direction. In fact, his sword would never have been damaged if he had used it more defensively. So now Tanjiro has a better avenue to truly master the aquatic breathing techniques and potentially give him a much better advantage in the fights to come in future episodes of the series. That is if they make it out of this one alive, of course.
But what do you think? What do you think of Tanjiro’s use of water breathing so far? Curious to see the extent of each of his moves?
