🌱 GA Family Seeks Justice + Savannah Named #2 City By Moviemaker

Good day, people of Savannah! Kayla Harrison here with the Friday edition of the Savannah Daily.

First, today’s weather:

Cloudy and cool with a shower. High: 54 Low: 33.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Savannah:

  1. Five years later, a family is searching for answers after their son was killed in Savannah. Carlton Frazier was hit by a bullet in April 2017 and rushed to the hospital, but he didn’t make it. Savannah Police say they will work to bring the family justice, but it will take the community coming forward with leads. (WJCL NewsSavannah)
  2. Savannah was named number two of the “Best Small Cities and Towns to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” by Moviemaker Magazine. The city has been ranked in the top four since 2015. Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison said that “the Savannah Entertainment Production Incentives combined with the state of Georgia’s tax credit program, have significantly raised Savannah’s profile as a desired location for entertainment production.” (savannahceo.com)
  3. The state of Georgia dropped the charges against the truck driver who hit and killed a Savannah police officer in 2018. The court determined that Officer Anthony Christie’s car was positioned in a way that made it difficult for oncoming drivers to see it. Investigators recreated the accident and determined that the truck driver had less than two seconds to see and react to the patrol car. (WJCL NewsSavannah)

  • Last year, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia provided over 28 million pounds of food to families in their coverage area. And the nonprofit is working to continue to meet that need, even though they’re up against the same food costs as the families they’re trying to help. (Facebook)
