Hey people of Baton Rouge! Kayla Harrison here with a brand-new Baton Rouge Daily.

First, today’s weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 70 Low: 40.

Here are the top three stories in Baton Rouge today:

  1. A new Disney+ series featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones will begin filming this month in Baton Rouge. The “National Treasure” TV show stars Lisette Alexis as a young puzzle solver trying to solve the mystery of a lost Pan-American treasure. According to the office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, the production is expected to bring millions of dollars and several jobs to the Baton Rouge area. (WBRZ)
  2. An overheated electrical cord caused a fire in a Baton Rouge residence Wednesday. Fire crews found the carport on fire and were able to control the blaze in about 45 minutes. The homeowner safely escaped the fire without injuries and was reunited with their small dog who had been found outside at the time of the blaze. (WAFB)
  3. The Capital Region Planning Commission has developed a new infrastructure plan, designed to reduce traffic woes for Baton Rouge drivers. The goal of the Move 2046 plan is to improve roads and cut 1.5 million hours of traffic delays, according to executive director Jamie Setze. Move 2046 includes several projects running $5 billion; only $2 billion has been secured thus far, with funding set aside for the College Drive flyover ramp and the widening of Lee Drive.(WBRZ)
