A new comic book, Hellboy and the BPRD: Night of the Cyclops, will take the titular hero and bring him face-to-face with classic Greek mythology.

The paranormal investigating hero hell boy is about to encounter a new slew of deities in a new comic book one-shot. In an exclusive with Multiversity, the new comic Hellboy and the BPRD: Night of the Cyclops was announced, revealing that Hellboy was going to take on beings from classic Greek myths. The announcement shines a light on the adventures of Hellboy who, while encountering goddesses like Hecate, hasn’t truly faced the Greek pantheon yet.

Hellboy is the creation of Mike Mignola and star of his own self-titled series. Summoned to Earth by Nazi occultists as an infant, Hellboy was taken in by Allied Forces, a moment that lead to the creation of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Hellboy’s unique background made him the ideal agent for facing otherworldly threats, and in his career, he’s saved the world from demons, witches, vampires and even gods. Now, his latest adventure of him looks to add a few new mythological figures to his list of him.

The exciting chapter for Hellboy promises to be a classic story that puts the character in the element he works best in, while giving him some new territory to explore. In his long career, Hellboy has encountered beings from mythologies the whole world over, but this story will emphasize a strictly Greek collection for him to potentially fight. Classic mythology is filled with a wonderfully diverse array of monsters that have become legends in their own right. Cyclops was one of the threats faced by the hero Odysseus in the classic tale, The Odyssey, and to this day, remains one of the most well-known mythological beasts. The Greek myths are seen as some of the most influential stories of civilization and a comic in which Hellboy encounters said monsters is a perfect fit for his character of him.

A comic that loves mythology as much as hell boy stands on the shoulders of the legends that inspired it. Having Hellboy come face-to-face with Greek mythology will be a fantastic way of showing how far these stories have come. Hellboy and the BPRD: Night of the Cyclops will be available May 25, 2022.
