Renaissance Recycling – Drop Off Days

The Renaissance Recycling Center in Hodgenville will be accepting recycling on Tuesdays during the month of March for specific items only.

Tuesday, March 15 – Paper Products; office paper, junk mail, shredded paper, newsprint, slicks and magazines; (no napkins, plates, or candy wrappers, coffee filters, popcorn bags, etc.). Tuesday, March 22 – Metals; aluminum cans, steel / tin cans separated. All foods must be rinsed out of these containers. Glass-jars and bottles, lids removed, all foods must be rinsed out of the containers. Please sort by color. No window glass accepted. The recycling center is open from 9 am to 3 pm and is located at 209 E. Water Street in Hodgenville, KY. If you have questions about what items will be accepted, contact Jill Gray at 270-234-6619.

Central KY Art Guild

The Central KY Art Guild will meet 10 am to noon March 12 at Our Place 790 N. Dixie Suite 900, Elizabethtown, KY. Kim Mann will present a program on oil pastels. All who are interested are invited to attend. POC:

A benefit magic and variety show will take place Sunday, March 13 at 2 pm and 6 pm at the LaRue County High School. Proceeds benefit the Hodgenville Lions Club Eyeglass Program. Tickets are $12, children 5 and under are free. For more information go to

Christian Women’s Connection

$13 inclusive MARCH…ING Into Better Days Luncheon will be held Monday, March 14, from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm at the Home of Philanthropy, 200 Jim Owen Drive, Elizabethtown.

The speaker will be Tonya Tombs “New Beginnings” “How to Thrive, not just Survive”

Members of the Woman’s Club of Hodgenville will meet at 6:30 pm on March 15. New members are welcome.

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace Volunteers

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is seeking volunteers. The park will host an open house event from 5-7 pm on March 23 at the Birthplace Visitor Center auditorium. Volunteer opportunities include working at the park’s information desks, working at the Memorial Building, doing clean-up projects and other maintenance activities, living history programs and leading tours. LaRue County Annual Clean Up Day is coming March 25 from 9 am to 4 pm and March 26 from 8 am to noon. Located at the LaRue County Maintenance Garage across from the LaRue County High School, a list of what is accepted and what is not accepted is in today’s paper on page A9. Your Voice Has Power

Join the Baptist Health Hardin SANE/Forensic Program for the kick off of Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Awareness month with a Your Voice Has Power event Friday, March 25 from 7 to 11 pm The event will be held at the Historic State Theater located at 209 W. Dixie Ave in Elizabethtown. Doors open at 6 pm and the event is for all ages. $20 general admission, $35 VIP for the night of give-a-ways and great music by local artist. To purchase tickets, visit

Senior Center

The Senior Center is open for activities and dine-in lunch Monday through Friday. Home School Group

On March 9 at 11 am the home school group will meet at the Genealogy Society located at City Hall.

Microsoft Office Basics

Andrew Coy will lead a class for adults only on Microsoft Office Basics for the technologically challenged, on March 10 at 5 pm Bring your own laptop. Space is limited; call to register.

Reading with a Ranger

The library will host Reading with a Ranger at 3:30 pm on Friday, March 11.

Book Club

The book club will meet Thursday, March 17 at 3:30 pm discussing the classic, Portrait of Dorian Gray. A copy of the book is available at the front desk, with large print and CD available.

Easter Wreath

On Friday, March 18 at 3 pm a class on making an Easter wreath from plastic tablecloths. Materials will be provided. Call to register.

Finding Your Feathered Friends

Rosemary Meredith will be at the library March 24 at 5 pm to give those attending tips on spotting your favorite birds. Free gift for those attending. Class limited to 16, call to register.

Mod Podge Fabric Jars

Bethany Smith will lead a class for Mod Podge Fabric Jars on Friday, March 25 at 3 pm Call to reserve a spot. Materials provided.

Stretch and Shine

Come keep those muscles working every Monday at 10 am at the library.

Local Food Pantries

LaRue County Community Actionhas a giveaway the third Wednesday of each month from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the LaRue County Parks & Recreation building in Hodgenville. The next date is March 16. For information, call 270-358-3937.

The Hope Food Pantryat Hodgenville United Methodist Church will have a giveaway on Monday, March 21 at 4 pm If help is needed before then, please call the church at 270-358-3028.

The Shepherd’s Pie Food Pantryhosted by the Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, has a giveaway at 3 pm every Tuesday.
