Ryan Reynolds would love for Hugh Jackman to appear in the upcoming Dead Pool 3 and asks fans to petition Marvel Studios to make the dream a reality.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Reynolds noted how excited he’d be to work with long-time friend Jackman on another superhero project. “That would be amazing,” said Reynolds. “I say write to Kevin Feige, care of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at whatever Buena Vista Way. I don’t know where it is, but yeah, that would be nice. That would be a dream. That would be a dream come true.”
While Reynolds and Jackman have already worked together in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, the closest thing to a reunion was Wolverine’s brief cameo in Dead Pool 2. Shawn Levy, the director of Reynold’s upcoming Netflix film The Adam Project, teased that he’d love to bring the pair together again. “I’m not going to say where and how, but I will absolutely confirm my intention and determination to be the lucky son of a bitch who puts those two magnificent gods in the same movie together.”
Since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jackman and Reynolds have been embroiled in a comical “feud” that has spawned plenty of humorous videos and shorts. Reynolds’s enthusiasm to work with Jackman again puts to rest any doubts fans may have about the actors’ friendship.
While neither Deadpool nor Wolverine exists within the MCU, there’s a possibility that could change in the near future. Many fans are expecting Wade Wilson to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to introduce characters previously held outside of Disney’s superhero franchise. The trailers for the film seemingly confirm that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X will make an appearance, exciting many fans of the character who have not seen him since his performance of him in Logan. Reynolds previously insisted that Deadpool is not in Multiverse of Madness.
as for Dead Pool 3, Feige confirmed that the Merc with the Mouth’s next movie will act as the MCU’s first R-rated film. While a release date is currently unknown, Reynolds teased that fans can expect news in the coming months. “I’ll say this about [Deadpool 3] is I’ll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope. So I’ll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road,” said Reynolds.
While audiences will need to wait patiently for news on Dead Pool 3, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
