Library Lines: Portland

Ready, Set, Grow!: Join us on Thursday, March 17, at 6:30 pm for the launch of our seed library. Come and see how the seed library will work, take home some seeds and listen to our guest speaker, Bevin Cohen, as he shares with you how to properly save seeds, space items in your garden, and more. This will be an in-person event.

Portland Creates: Portland Creates is back! Have fun creating an original masterpiece, and have it displayed at the Portland District Library! Artists ages 6 and older can submit artwork of all types–paintings, drawings, sculptures, photos, and more. The submission period runs April 9 through April 26, and the artwork will be on display throughout the month of May. Be sure to come in to vote for your favorites! Stop by the library to pick up the rules and submission forms, and join us for this year’s fun.

Virtual Storytime: Busy Bees and Book Cubs, throw off your blankets and come out of hibernation! It’s time to think spring with the Portland District Library! Miss Jamie and Miss Shannon can’t wait to help you explore things that grow. From baby humans to baby birds, from flowers to trees, from insects to hair… if it’s something that grows, we want to learn how, and why, and where. Registration for this exciting spring session of storytime will begin on Monday, March 14, when Busy Bees (ages 0-3) can receive new sensory items, and Book Cubs (ages 3+) can start to receive their Take-and-Make bags . The spring session of videos will premiere each Monday beginning March 21 until May 30. Families can enjoy the pre-recorded videos over and over again, to read, sing, and dance along with library staff! Previous Virtual Storytime videos can be found here:
