NASCAR DFS: Top 2022 Ruoff Mortgage 500 daily Fantasy picks, Phoenix Raceway strategy for DraftKings, FanDuel

One of the top headlines coming out of Alex Bowman’s win in the Pennzoil 400 last week was Kyle Busch’s reaction. Busch had choice words thanks to a late caution that allowed for a change of tires and a move to the front of the pack. The result was Bowman’s first victory of 2022. On Sunday at 3:30 pm ET, NASCAR heads to Phoenix Raceway, where Bowman has never finished better than sixth, but could this be the year he emerges as one of the top options for NASCAR DFS lineups for the 2022 Ruoff Mortgage 500?

Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney were the only drivers to win consecutive races at any point last season, and the former did so three times. Over the last three years, Larson also has the highest average finish over five races at Phoenix Raceway at 4.4, so he could be a popular option from the 2022 NASCAR Phoenix DFS Driver pool. Before you lock in any NASCAR DFS picks for the 2022 Ruoff Mortgage 500, be sure to check out the optimal NASCAR DFS strategy and advice from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure has won almost $2 million in his career as a daily Fantasy pro, and his NASCAR DFS driver pool, projections and advice can help you score a big win on Sunday.

Last week, McClure was extremely high on Kyle Busch in his Pennzoil 400 picks on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, and he ended the race in fourth place after starting 37th in the grid. Two weeks ago, he was high on Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick, and both turned in top-10 finishes. His model of him, which simulates every race 10,000 times, called seven outright winners last season.
Anyone who has followed his picks has seen huge returns.

Now, he’s turned his attention to Sunday’s Ruoff Mortgage 500 2022. He’s only sharing his picks and NASCAR DFS driver pool here.

Top 2022 Ruoff Mortgage 500 NASCAR DFS picks

For NASCAR at Phoenix, McClure is high on Martin Truex Jr. After consecutive 13th-place finishes to start the season, Truex climbed from 12th to eighth place last weekend and even led for a lap in the Pennzoil 400. Truex Jr. got hot after the first few races of last season and won at the spring race at Phoenix last season after taking sixth at Las Vegas.

Truex Jr. has had the third-most quality passes this season with 301 behind Kyle Larson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. He also has the third-most laps while in the top 15 drivers during races so far this season. Truex should have the confidence it takes to win on Sunday after taking first and second place finishes in his last two appearances at Phoenix Raceway.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NASCAR DFS strategy includes rostering Denny Hamlin. McClure went with Hamlin as well last week, but he had to withdraw with 46 laps left due to his transmission needing repair. Hamlin had gotten off to a strong start and led 31 of the first 61 laps. He’s sure to have left wondering what could have been, as he hasn’t finished better than 15th this season in any of his previous races.

Last year, Hamlin held on for third place in the Instacart 500. This year, he should be looking for more without a marquee win to start the year. Twice this season, I have qualified to start in the top five in the NASCAR grid, but that hasn’t translated to wins. Four of his last five finishes at Phoenix have been in the top-five and his last win from him at the track came in November 2019.

How to set 2022 NASCAR Phoenix DFS lineups

McClure is also targeting an undervalued driver set to return plenty of value. He’s in a prime position to make a run at the checkered flag and comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can see who it is, and every other pick, right here.
