Galt Grub Grab food distribution

The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District’s Galt Grub Grab food distributions continue through March at Greer and Valley Oaks elementary schools. The boxes of shelf-stable food items are donated by the Sacramento Food Bank and are free to Galt families. The distributions take place at dismissal time.

The Valley Oaks distribution is on Thursdays, March 24 and 31 at 21 C Street.

The Greer distribution is on Tuesday, March 29 at 248 West A Street.

Saturday Market to be held April – October

The city of Galt will host a new Saturday Market on the first Saturday of the month, April through October. The event will take place on the Fourth Street Promenade and last from 10 am to 3 pm Vendors will offer food, produce, fresh flowers, and arts and crafts.

The first Saturday Market is scheduled for April 2. It will feature a school band performance at 11 am and the city’s Touch-A-Truck event, which gives children a chance to explore vehicles like firetrucks, tractors and police cars. AZ Foundation fundraising dinner April 2

The GLS Chapter of the AZ Foundation Group is hosting its second annual Auction/Banquet Fundraiser in Lodi on April 2. The prime rib and chicken dinner will be held at Hutchins Street Square in Crete Hall. Doors open at 5 pm

Single dinner tickets cost $100 each. Three levels of table sponsorship are available, ranging from $800 to $2,500. A raffle will be held with various rifles as prizes; raffle ticket packs are available for $100 to $500.

Eggstravaganza, Kite Day combo April 9

The Galt Area Historical Society will host the 13th annual Galt Eggstravaganza and Kite Day on April 9. Kite Day and the Eggstravaganza will be combined for the first time in an event filled with fun activities and more than 70 vendors. The free event runs from 9 am to 4 pm at McFarland Living History Ranch, with an egg hunt on the ranch grounds and kites provided by Old City Kites. Other attractions include food trucks, a pie-eating contest hosted by Galt Sunrise Rotary, an egg drop from a Cosumnes Fire Department ladder truck, and activities run by Boy Scout Troop 1119.

Fatima society’s steak and oyster dinner April 9

The Our Lady of Fatima Society of Thornton is holding a steak and oyster dinner on April 9 at the Our Lady of Fatima Society Hall. No-host cocktails start at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 pm and dancing to music by the Jay Rolerz Band.

Galt library bilingual story time on April 14

The Galt – Marian O. Lawrence Library will hold a bilingual story time on April 14 at 10 am, with activities in English and Spanish. The featured book will be “How to Fold a Taco/How to double a taco” by Naibe Reynoso. Using fantastical characters, the book shows how to fold the Mexican dish and teaches basic motor skills.

The event is part of a month-long celebration of reading known as Día, also called El Día de los Ninos or El Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day).

Lions Club craft fair April 23

The Galt Lions Club will host a craft fair on April 23. From 10 am to 3 pm, attendees will be able to pick up mimosas and snacks while they stroll the Fourth Street Promenade and view more than 20 vendors.

City of Galt Shred Day April 30

The city of Galt is holding its annual shred event on Saturday, April 30, from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, at the Galt Market grounds, 905 Meladee Lane. Bring records, statements or anything with personal information on it to the event, for its safe disposal.
