Local author to hold book signing, sale with proceeds to benefit Roads to Peace | News, Sports, Jobs

Christine Williams

LOCK HAVEN — Local author Christina Williams will hold a book signing on Saturday, April 9, at 1 pm on the third floor of the Ross Library.

Williams was one of many authors to share her story, and two personal photographs, in the anthology book “#SheWins2” a sequel to the best selling book “#SheWins” by Alisa Divine.

Williams is a survivor and advocate against domestic violence. She specialized in prevention education at her local women’s shelter where she once was a client. She is now the founder and creator of the Facebook Page, Damsels-N-Distress. The site aims to help trauma victims identify narcissistic abusive behavior and understand what abusers do and how.

An excerpt from Williams book reads: “He would call me names, put me down and degrade me until I didn’t feel like a human being anymore. I don’t really know what came over me except that I intuitively hit my breaking point and saw a way out–finally.”

Williams’ story is one of 10 featured in the book, which follows the same format as the first book. Each chapter begins with black and white portraits depicting the emotion of abuse. The women share their stories and each chapter ends with victory. Full-color portraits celebrate the survivors’ irrepressible spirits. Despite the atrocities the women suffered, they insisted on perseverance and overcame.

The women share their experiences to expose domestic violence—it thrives in secrecy. They intend to open conversations, education and resources and continuously encourage more women to stand up, speak out and get the help they need.

#SheWins 2, is available on Amazon. You may also connect with Williams on LinkedIn or email her at: christinkunes@yahoo.com.

Copies of Williams book will be available to purchase for $25 at the book signing. Some of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Roads to Peace, who helped Williams when she moved back to the Lock Haven area.
