Spring is in the air and things are busy at Arbor Gallery, with the presentation of an exhibition, a storytelling evening, a concert and a giant art sale.
Saturday, April 23 – Conversation with Tom Cooper, author
On April 23, Arbor Gallery welcomes author and storyteller Tom Cooper. A Vankleek Hill resident from 1981 to 2004, he worked several years as a commercial pilot and numerous other roles, including voice-over narrator, business program teacher, photography and digital camera technology.
Now retired and having returned to writing, Cooper has published three compilations of short stories – offering his readers glimpses into the comedically frenetic side of everyday senior life from his light-hearted, at times irreverent perspective.
A gifted and witty storyteller, Tom is sure to deliver an entertaining and fun evening for all guests of the Arbor Gallery.
“These books describe funny moments and anecdotes from the point of view of a senior man,” Cooper explains mischievously. “Women laugh, men will laugh more”.
Conversation with Tom Cooper will be held on Saturday April 23 at 7 pm, in the Main Hall of the gallery. His books by him will be available on site that evening. They are also available for sale locally at The Review and at Vankleek Cottage.
Sunday, April 10 – Vernissage for show by local artist and designer Jessica Sarrazin
An accomplished interdisciplinary artist, and former director of the Arbor Gallery, Jessica Sarrazin presents her altered photography artwork in her exhibition Altered States. A unique treatment of photography that adds depth and an ethereal quality to each piece.
Altered States runs until Sunday April 24. Vernissage on Sunday, April 10. In the Main Hall of Arbor Gallery.
Friday, April 22 – Sussex in concert
Presented by Saken Music, reservations and tickets at www.saken.ca/tickets – limited seating. Concert was postponed from March 29. Tickets for the March 29 concert are automatically valid for April 22.
Guests who cannot attend will be fully reimbursed upon request. There are still a few tickets left.
April 28- to May 1 – The Gallery Backroom Art Sale
For four days only, from Thursday April 28 to Sunday May 1, Arbor Gallery is holding a fundraising art sale.
“We have been reorganizing our space,” explains Sylvie Bouchard, who manages the gallery, “and we have gathered many art items that have been donated over the years. So, we decided to slash prices to give everyone a chance to own some artwork by local artists.”
Posters, paintings, prints and much more will be available.
