IVCC celebrates Community College Month – Shaw Local

A student-led industry fair, spring musical, Earth Day cleanup and Spirit Day highlight Illinois Valley Community College’s April celebration of Community College Month.

The national observance showcases how community colleges serve local needs, provide workforce training and seamless transfer to universities.

Community colleges like IVCC deliver higher education to students with the fewest resources and the greatest obstacles to overcome — and ensure a college education is accessible to all.

IVCC’s cost for 30 credit hours for the 2022-23 academic year will be $3,990 compared to $12,478 at NIU, $15,240 at SIU-C, $15,319 at ISU and $16,688 at UIUC.

IVCC’s student-to-faculty ratio is 1:10 and average class size is 12. There are 42 student clubs and academic organizations and a dozen athletic teams for students to choose from.

Students choose from a wide range of majors including accounting, agriculture, automotive, business, CAD, computer networking, criminal justice, cybersecurity, dental, early childhood education, electronics, electricity, engineering, HVAC, manufacturing, medical assistant, nursing, office professional , paramedic, truck driver training and welding.

IVCC Community College Month events begin with the start of fall semester registration Wednesday, April 6. New students should call 815-224-0360 to make a counseling appointment. Current students can view courses and register online at www.ivcc.edu/webadvisor.
