NBA DFS: Giannis Antetokounmpo and best FanDuel, DraftKings daily Fantasy basketball picks for April 8, 2022

The Miami Heat backcourt situation has been a little tricky to figure out in recent games between injuries, inconsistent play and preparing for the postseason. Max Strus has started the last five games at shooting guard, but he has been particularly sharp over his last four, where he has averaged 14.8 points and made 59.3 percent of his three-pointers. Is he an option to consider again on Friday for NBA DFS lineups, or can daily Fantasy players count on Tyler Herro to continue turning the corner he has started to over his last two games?

In four games back after missing two on March 23 and 25 (knee), Herro had been struggling to shoot even just 40.7 percent from the field. But over his last two games, Herro has made 55.9 percent of his attempts from him and he’s coming off of a 35-point performance against Charlotte on Tuesday. Is either a two-guard a reliable option in Friday’s NBA DFS player pool against Atlanta, or are there better targets? Before you make your NBA DFS picks, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Thursday, McClure listed Nuggets center Nikola Jokic in his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Jokic filled up the box score once again with 35 points, 16 boards, six assists and four steals. His performance from him returned 74.5 points on DraftKings and 75.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Friday, April 8, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Friday, April 8

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Friday includes Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo at $11,800 on DraftKings and $11,200 on FanDuel. The two-time MVP played through some knee soreness in a Thursday win and that ailment has him listed as questionable for Friday. But in last night’s win over Boston, Antetokounmpo dropped 29 points with 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals, and he made at least 50 percent of his shots for the 14th game in a row.

Provided he suits up, Antetokounmpo should maintain his efficiency from the floor on Friday against the Pistons and their bottom-10 defense. In three games vs. Detroit this year, Antetokounmpo has shot 59.3 percent from the field while also putting up 30.7 points a game. Milwaukee is the current No. 2 seed but could still drop down as low as No. 4 if it doesn’t take care of business over its next two games. So, expect a full complement of minutes from Antetokounmpo and if he suits up for 30-plus minutes against Detroit, then he should again fill up the stat sheet.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Lakers G/F Talen Horton-Tucker ($3,800 on DraftKings and $4,000 on FanDuel). Horton-Tucker may not replicate his career-high 40-point performance from Thursday when Los Angeles hosts Oklahoma City tonight, but now that the Lakers have turned their focus towards readying for next season, he should be a featured player once again. In addition to his offense last night, Horton-Tucker made a defensive impact and swiped four steals.

For most of the season, Horton-Tucker served as a capable rotation player, but the Lakers haven’t shied away from him in the 17 times that he’s started. During those games, he had a healthy offensive usage rate of 21.3 percent, and in his last game against the Thunder, he hit 57.1 percent of his attempts from the field. Horton-Tucker has also been sharp in the second games of back-to-backs, where his points (12.5), rebounds (4.1) and assists (2.9) per game are all higher than any other interval between appearances this year.
