Last year Amazon brought an epic change to it’s audiobook listening platform when it introduced the Plus Catalog that gave listeners unlimited access to a huge range of books.
Audible memberships typically cost just £7.99 a month, which grants the subscriber one credit that they can spend on an audiobook of their choice of any price. At the minute Audible are even offering 50% memberships for the first three months so you can get the full experience for just £3.99.
This means that instead of spending over £20 on one audiobook, you get it at a bargain price when bought with a credit – and you get to keep books bought with credits if you cancel your subscription.
You can listen along to the Bridgerton novels you’re suddenly curious about, I know I’m wondering what happens next for Penelope Featherington, or tune into Harry Potter or Richard Osman’s latest.
Not only can you do this, but included in that £7.99 is not only the credit but unlimited access to the huge range of novels and podcasts that they can tune in for.
There’s collections of classic novels available, so if you keep pretending you’re going to get round to reading Pride and Prejudice then now you can easily as you potter around the house or go for a stroll.
Rosamund Pike reads both Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility and you can hear Laura Dern’s take on Little Women, it’s a really relaxing way to consume the classics that won’t leave your eyes straining.
But it’s not only classics from years gone by that made the cut for the Plus Catalogue, with many modern books joining the list.
Young Adult readers don’t miss out on the fun, with Holly Black’s wildly popular The Folk of the Air books two and three being included.
While The Cruel Prince isn’t in the Plus Catalogue, you can buy the first book with a credit and have the full trilogy plus companion novel How the Kind of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories for less than £10.
This is a complete bargain, and that’s coming from a reader who forked out for the hardcover copies of all four books.
There’s a range of biographies that are read by the stars themselves, which I always enjoy as it feels like you’re sat down in conversation with them.
Included in the massive range are audiobiographies from Matt Lucas, Richard Ayoade and Spice Girl Mel B.
LJ Shen’s books have also made it to the catalog, but I’d recommend headphones if listening in the vicinity of other people as they’ve grown in popularity online for their steamy scenes that have taken TikTok by storm.
You can listen along and decide if they live up to the hype without forking out as it’s free as part of your membership.
