Poetry Month April 2022

April is poetry month! Grab a pen and write a poem. Optional writing theme: anything to do with the ocean. This is a program for all ages. Drop off your poem at the Circulation Desk at John F. Kennedy, Jr. Library or send an email, firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than Thursday, May 5, 2022. The top two poems selected by Library Staff will win prizes! We’ll announce the winners on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Arab Heritage Month Trivia with Prize Drawing
Drop by Caroline Kennedy Library for weekly trivia and prize drawings throughout the month of April in celebration of Arab Heritage Month. Trivia questions will be posted on Monday each week at a special display featuring Arab food across from the Circulation Desk. Answers to trivia questions can be placed in the designated box near the display. Patrons who answer the weekly trivia questions correctly will be entered into a prize drawing. Each week, we’ll be featuring a cultural recipe for patrons to pick up at Caroline Kennedy Library next to the Arab food display.
Ramadan Book Display & Lantern Craft Kit
Throughout the month of April, stop by and check out the Ramadan book display at Caroline Kennedy Library. Lantern craft kits will be available for pick-up outside of our Friends of the Library store. The craft kits are suitable for all ages. English as a Second Language (ESL) Conversation Classes

Faithful Companions: Leader Dogs for the Blind

Leader Dogs for the Blind is an organization that provides specially trained service dogs to an individual who is visually-challenged. Meet Cathy McAdam and her her Leader Dog, Lucy. Cathy will explain how a person is matched with their Ella Leader Dog and the intensive training that they both receive. She will also discuss how these incredible service animals provide their owner with a life of independence, confidence and companionship. Over her lifetime, Cathy has had 8 Leader Dogs. Her experiences and bond de ella with these faithful service companions has allowed her a life that many of us who are sighted take for granted – attending college, work, travel extensively, go to sporting events and concerts to name a few.
