🌱 Jackson Easter Celebrations Return + Housing Market Update

Hello again, Jackson! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Jackson Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Jackson Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Jackson long term. So if you’re interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today’s weather:

Nice with clouds and sun. High: 68 Low: 45.

Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:

  1. In-person Easter celebrations returned to the Jackson area with great success, according to two local event organizers. The Mississippi Children’s Museum held its fourth annual Bunnies and Butterflies event for scores of excited children this weekend. The annual Easter Egg Hunt drew large crowds at the VA Legion Softball Complex hosted by Jackson’s Parks and Recreation Department. (WAP Jackson)
  2. Are you in the market for a new home? Patch, with data compiled by Redfin, has created a list of five homes recently hitting the Jackson area housing market. Click the link to view the list of diverse home offerings. Happy hunting! (Jackson Patch)
  3. The annual WMPR Easter Basket GiveAway brought the West Jackson community together on Good Friday. The 100 baskets are created by local business owners. Each basket has books, candy, and toys. Mississippi Tailgaters provided the food that was present at the event. (WLBT)

Today in Jackson:

  • Game Changers Exhibit At The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (8:00 AM)

From my notebook:

  • Jackson State University shares some highlights of head coach Tomekia Reed’s four years with the university. Reed has been selected as the SWAC Coach of the Year twice, and won the BOXTOROW National HBCU Coach of the Year twice as well. (Facebook)
  • Mississippi Animal Rescue League is searching for a forever home for the lovely Earthquake. Anyone interested in the three-year-old Mastiff mix can fill out an application at the shelter or email karenw@msarl.org. (Facebook)
