Dorothy ‘Dot’ Mindrup

Dorothy “Dot” Mindrup (Androes) died peacefully on April 20, 2022 in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 91.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Donald Michael (Mike) and wife, Arleen, David Thomas and wife, Mary, all of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren Amanda (Strauss), Jason, Joseph, and Rachel Mindrup; four great grandchildren Hailey, Adaline and James Strauss and Violet Mindrup, and brother Herman J Androes of Buda, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents of her Herman Androes and Hermine Androes; her husband Alfred John Mindrup; siblings Leroy Androes and Ginny Logan (Androes).

Dorothy was born on December 13, 1930 in Newton, Kansas to Herman and Hermine Androes. She graduated from Bethel College in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities. She later earned her Master of Science in Counseling, in 1969, from Fort Hays State. After graduating in 1952, Dorothy worked as a high school English teacher and Librarian in Burns, Kansas for 2 years, then for Braniff Airways in Dallas and Austin, Texas for 2 years. Dorothy then worked at Lenora High School in Lenora, Kansas starting in 1956 until her retirement from her in 1992, where she was a Counselor, Librarian, and taught English and German. She married Alfred John Mindrup, a farmer on June 7, 1957. The couple welcomed two children into their home. Her children of her remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Dorothy was accomplished at writing poetry and stories and often wrote poems for family and friends’ events and accomplishments. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved reading, writing, and painting. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and often volunteered at quilting.

Visitation will be held at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home in Norton, Kansas on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A second visitation will be held at 9:30 am before the service on Tuesday at the Parish Hall in New Almelo. Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in New Almelo, Kansas with a reception to follow in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. Father Matthew Cowan will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy’s life of her.
