UNCSA shorts are finalists at Humboldt International Student Film Festival

Out of hundreds of entries, five short UNCSA films have been selected to screen as finalists in the 55th Humboldt International Film Fest in Arcata, California, from April 18-23. Humboldt is the oldest student-run film festival in the world. The UNCSA finalists are:

  • “Good Boy Cerberus,” “In Our Nature,” and “Tiger Blanket” in the Animation Program
  • “Pink, White & Blue” in the Documentary Program
  • “You Know His Name” in the Spotlight Films: Fight For Your Rights Program

Best of Festival Films will be announced and screen in-person in Arcata on Thursday, April 21 at 6 pm and again Friday, April 22. The online Best of Fest program will be available Thursday, April 21-Saturday, April 23. Student Filmmakers will participate in a virtual Q&A on Friday, April 22 at 4 pm EDT. Passes to the online Best of Fest program are $10 for students and $15.00 for the general public.

“In Our Nature” was written by Echo Wilson and Nick Bailey, directed and animated by Echo Wilson, produced by Nick Bailey, with animation and coloring by Mckayla Singleton, Abby Davenport, and Kamryn Szeliga; editing and sound design by Jacob Boyle and music by Alexandra Franco Zorro.

“Pink, White & Blue”

“Pink, White & Blue” was directed, edited and sound designed by Ash Malone, produced by Epiphany James, Ellie Emfinger, and Erin Gallagher, with cinematography by Ian Price and music by Michael Gaffney.

“You Know His Name”

“You Know His Name” is written by Desiree Winns and Clarke Phillips; directed by Phillips; produced by Robert Mageau; with cinematography by Ben Trevey; production design by Ben Ter Haar; edited by Isabel Rodriguez; sound design by Vasiliki Omirly; music by Michael McKeithen, Jr.; and costume design by Sarah Sims.
