As a way to celebrate the global holiday of Mother’s Day, Final Fantasy 7 Remake shares concept art of Cloud Strife’s mother, Claudia.
With the advent of social media platforms, video game companies seem to be making a habit of utilizing seasonal events and global holidays to make content for their titles. This was seen in the recent holiday greeting cards by PlayStation, and even in the constant seasonal events across popular titles like Fortnite, Valorant, and more. Recently, Final Fantasy 7 Remake celebrated Mother’s Day by posting concept art of Cloud Strife’s mother, Claudia Strife.
the Final Fantasy 7 Remake team has been sharing a lot of concept art on their social media platforms after the launch of integrate. This gives fans a closer look at different game details, which the community may not take notice of while playing the RPG. This includes lore and flavor text about the remake’s Chocobos, and even in-depth info about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake musical loveless. Given that Square Enix has been stingy about Part 2 details, this is likely the most the team can give the fans to hold their interest while waiting for official news.
On the official Japanese Twitter account, the team celebrated Mother’s Day with a post dedicated to Final Fantasy 7 protagonist Cloud Strife’s mother, Claudia Strife. In the post, concept art drawn by Tetsuya Nomura of Claudia’s character design was shared, alongside several in-game screenshots. This allows fans to compare which details from the base character design was implemented into the actual game. Looking closely, fans will notice that most of Claudia’s design details remained intact such as her dress style and color, and even how her apron is tied.
Fans will likely recall the in-game screenshots of Claudia Strife as part of Cloud’s visit to Aerith’s home in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. In this part of the game, he has a brief flashback of his mother, when he made the trip back to Nibelheim a few years after leaving for Midgar to join the SOLDIER program. The final photo in the post shares Claudia Strife’s character design from the original PlayStation version of Final Fantasy 7. Fans will likely notice that the devs chose to retain Claudia’s dress and apron de ella, as well as her ponytail and spiky bangs.
Fans will likely see more of Claudia and Cloud’s memories of her when the story of Final Fantasy 7 Remake progress. Though no plot details have been shared about Part 2 of the game, characters like Claudia will likely still be referenced to, given how important they are to Cloud’s character development in Final Fantasy 7.
