Chief Theater hosts Tea Party fundraiser – May 21

The Suwanee Valley Players are hosting a tea party fundraiser at the Chief Theatre, located at 25 E Park Ave in Chiefland on Saturday, May 21 with two seatings to choose from: 10:30AM and 1:30PM. They will offer a selection of teas and treats, and sell an assortment of tea pots. The Victorian-costumed cast of the upcoming show Domestic Bliss will also be on hand. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at www.chief theatre.com or by calling 352-493-2787. All proceeds support the Chief.

ARMED FORCES DAY – May 21 Meet an Arabian – May 22

Need something to do with the family on Sunday? Come meet a multi-champion. “TEESE” is the most versatile Arabian ever. Pony rides and family photos taken with Teese or our new baby filly “Lilly’s wish upon a star.” Come by and have some fun and sign our guestbook. Vinton Farm, located on SE CR 337, 1 mile north of 121 and 4 miles south of Willards (Hwy 326) in Morriston.

May Day – May 27

The May Day committee is looking for the next May Day Queen. There has not been a May Day Queen since 1967. Little Miss May Day, Ages 4-7; Junior Miss May Day, Ages 8-11; Miss Teen May Day, Ages 12-15, and Miss May Day Ages 16-18. The Pageant will be held at the Tommy Usher Center, 506 SW 4th Avenue, Chiefland, Friday May 27th, 6pm-9pm. $10 door entry fee. Contact Alice Monyei at 352-262-4224 for further information.

Red, White & Blues Farm Peach Fest – May 28-30

The 2022 peach season is right around the corner and we are celebrating our peach harvest at Peach Fest on May 28-30.

Come celebrate Memorial Day at Red, White & Blues Farm’s Peach Festival! We are having a day full of peach treats, live music, delicious food, amazing local arts and crafts from wonderful local artists, and fun-filled farm activities for the whole family to experience.

Join us from 10 am to 5 pm and enjoy picking your very own tasty peaches, blueberries, and stunning sunflowers from our family farm. MEMORIAL DAY – May 30 68th Annual Watermelon Festival – June 4

For over a half century, visitors from thousands away have come to Chiefland to enjoy our annual Watermelon Festival. Everyone attending will enjoy a parade, arts and crafts, vendor booths, pageants and watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests, and a host of other family-fun activities. Festival will be set up at 23 SE 2nd Ave., Chiefland, 8am-3pm. The parade begins promptly at 11:00am at Chiefland Middle High School and travels South down Hwy19. Melon Tour – June 4

Hosted by the Suwannee Valley Rotary Club as a way to support local charities, such as the Food4Kids Backpack program, the Tour de Melon is a bike ride offering rides 15 miles to 100 miles! It truly is an amazing event and has something for every cyclist at every level. It’s also a great family ride on the beautiful Nature Coast State Trail.

This years Tour de Melon will be held Saturday, June 4th, starting at Charles Strickland park 2340 Old Fannin’ Rd., Chiefland. You can register for the event, or obtain additional information on the Tour de Melon Facebook page.

Levy County 4-H summer events & day camps

Bronson — Are you looking for something educational and fun for your youth this summer? If so, look no further! Levy County 4-H will be offering Summer Day Camps throughout the months of June and July. Camps include AG Discovery (8-13 year old), All About Animals (5-7 year old), Cooking Around the World (8-13 year old), Hometown Heroes (8-13 year old), Crafty Clover-buds ( 5-7 year old), Grill Masters (8-13 year old) and Fishing (8-13 Year old).

All About Animals: June 13th – 16th (20 spots)

Cooking Around the World: June 20th- 23rd (12 spots)

Hometown Heroes: June 27th- June 30th (24 spots)

Crafty Cloverbuds: July 11th- July 14th (20 spots)

Fishing: July 25th- 28th (24 Spots)

Registration for our first camp closes on May 25th. Be sure to register early to secure your camper’s spot!

4-H is an all-inclusive youth organization that offers a variety of youth involvement ranging from school-based programs to community clubs. Students are encouraged to join 4-H and find their passion by exploring the many opportunities the program has to offer.

Tri-County Community Resource Center

Daily center resources include use of computers/internet, copy/print/fax, notary service, employment resources, children’s activities, book lending library, Access Benefits help, emergency food, children’s clothing, child counseling information, infant care items, parenting support & referral.

Hours are M-Th 9am-5pm and Fri 9am – noon. The center is closed daily for lunch and hours and programs may vary due to limited staffing.

The Grandparents Raising Kids Support Group meets 10 am to noon the second Tuesday of the month at First Baptist Church of Cross City, 16024 US 19 in Cross City.
