2022 NFL OTA News Roundup: Allen Robinson, Jameis Winston, Lamar Jackson (Fantasy Football)

Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are in full swing, and our news desk has you covered. Let’s take a look at the latest in news and notes from 2022 NFL OTAs.

Allen Robinson impressing at Rams OTAs

While speaking with the reporters Wednesday, Rams HC Sean McVay was asked about newly signed WR Allen Robinson and said “He’s a stud. I’ve been so impressed with just his overall professionalism from him day in and day out. McVay continued to rave about his impressive body control and smooth route running for a bigger WR. Fantasy Impact: The Los Angeles Rams signed Robinson this offseason to play alongside superstar WR Cooper Kupp in the team’s high-powered passing attack. Robinson is in a position to likely be the number two receiving option in the Rams’ offense in 2022 after the team traded away WR Robert Woods and have yet to re-sign free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. as he recovers from a torn ACL. Despite dealing with poor QB play throughout his career, Robinson has finished as a WR1 three separate times in his career in PPR formats. Robinson had a surprisingly disappointing 2021 season with the Bears where he played in 12 games but only hauled in 38 receptions for 410 yards and 1 TD (all career lows). Robinson will get a long-awaited QB upgrade in 2022 as he’ll be receiving passes from Super Bowl Champion Matthew Stafford, a change that gives fantasy managers hope that he will be able to bounce back from a down 2021 season.

Jameis Winston participating in Saints OTAs (ACL)

Fantasy Impact: New Orleans Saints HC Dennis Allen recently stated on “The Rich Eisen Show” that the team expects Winston to be healthy and under center for week 1, so the QBs ability to participate in OTAs further suggests that he should be ready by the start of the season assuming he doesn’t suffer any setbacks. Winston threw 14 TD passes and just 3 interceptions before tearing his ACL in a week 8 matchup against the Buccaneers last season. Winston was having the most efficient season of his career prior to the injury, and he should have a revamped group of WRs to pass to in 2022. The Saints used a 1st round pick to draft former Ohio State WR Chris Olave, signed veteran slot receiver Jarvis Landry, and Michael Thomas is returning from injury after missing all of last season.

Lamar Jackson absent from Ravens’ OTAs

According to multiple league sources, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is not in attendance for the team’s OTAs as the former MVP enters the final year of his rookie contract. (Source: Pro Football Talk)

Fantasy Impact: Jackson’s absence from OTAs marks the first time in his career that he has missed voluntary offseason workouts. The Ravens have exercised Jackson’s fifth-year option which will pay him over $23 million in 2022, but they have been unsuccessful in signing the QB to a long-term extension. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta has started multiple times that the team has attempted to engage in contract negotiations with Jackson, but the QB hasn’t been interested in participating in discussions. Jackson has indicated that he still wants to play for Baltimore and he isn’t expected to hold out or miss games. Jackson and the Ravens won’t have WR Hollywood Brown after he was traded to the Cardinals during the NFL draft, but Jackson is still firmly within QB1 territory heading into 2022, largely due to his elite rushing ability for the position.
